Self-Indicating Blue Silica Gel

Indicating type silica gel (silica gel blue) is impregnated with humidity indicator which changes colour from blue to pink as the silica gel crystals becomes saturated. Once the silica gel turns pink it cannot adsorb any more moisture. It needs to be regenerated. This can be accomplished by heating it in an oven. The heat expels the moisture, the silica gel turns blue and becomes reusable.
